Ashley and Diana, our professional spa therapists are highly enthusiastic about infrared saunas. They enjoy providing massages to people who have just had a sauna session and shower since their bodies are relaxed with loosened muscle tissue and the treatment is thus more effective. These are described fully on our Victoria Massage page. Our guests have been delighted with their pleasant professionalism. - - - - - - - - - - - Infrared Saunas - FAQWhat is an infrared sauna? Your bodily health improves just as you sit and enjoy the sauna experience! Health benefits are similar in both types of saunas although infrared saunas detoxify up to seven times more heavy metals than traditional ones. Both are equally safe. Infra-red heat is used to warm premature babies. What are the health benefits? The sauna’s infrared heat increases the temperature of the skin causing the layer of cellulite (fat and water) and oil below the surface to secrete out of the skin’s oil glands, releasing toxins too. This results in cleansed rejuvenated skin. The body contains an alarming array of accumulated toxins and minerals. Just a few are: nicotine, formaldehyde, pesticides, cholesterol, ammonia, gasoline and industrial chemicals. There are also carcinogenic heavy metals including mercury, lead, aluminum and nickel. The sweating process promotes the detoxification of these from the body. Weight loss: as blood vessels are heated they dilate increasing the circulation and increasing the heart rate by 50-75%. This has the same metabolic result as physical exercise, burning up to 600 calories in half an hour in a sauna. A reduction of stress and fatigue is experienced and relief from chronic fatigue syndrome. Lower blood pressure is enhanced, as is lower cholesterol.
